My mortgage lender approve my loan modification one year ago when I was outside this country. My family member technically signed the documents for me, presumably my signature. I have been making the new monthly payments since then. Now I need to dispute the loan amount written in the modification because I didn't pay attention to it in the beginning. My question is- , Is the modification valid since the signature is not mine as I'm the only borrower of the loan? Can I dispute the legitimacy of the loan?
Answer
You can dispute the transaction if you did not sign it. That may very well mean serious criminal charges for those who did sign your name. You still will owe the money.
