Can child support take your full payroll check

Question

Can child support take your full payroll check

Answer

Usually the limit is half.

Answer

Federal law states no more than 50%. If the entire monthly amount owed is not covered by the deduction, you have to pay the additional amount. I assume it is being paid through the Registry. You will need to keep details of your payments, including copies of money orders provided. Do not pay cash directly to the custodial parent without a signed receipt. If paying through the Registry, it needs to be paid to the Registry. This should be set out in the Income Deduction Order. You can pay on-line which is a better way of tracking.
