Question

Do u have to have something signed to be working with an attorney or be charged , what if u just talk to then on the phone and they bill you

Answer

Signed contracts are not necessarily required for all legal billing, but are often expected by bar association rules when billing is likely to exceed $1000. Even then, however, other understandings or a history of doing business can suffice (such as, for example, participating in a legal plan which sets up a billing framework for both attorneys and client participants). Legal work done on the phone is billable, just like legal work done in court.
