Does an officer have the right to search your body without asking for your consent

Question

Does an officer have the right to search your body without asking for your consent

Answer

An officer may conduct a simple "pat down" on the outside of your clothing based upon reasonable suspicion that the person has committed, is committing, or is about to commit a crime and has a reasonable belief that the person "may be armed and presently dangerous."
