I forgot to site the author of a quote I used on my business cards, is this illegal, and if so what is punishment?
The author died in 1832, I have been told since he has been dead for such a long time to not worry, should I?
Answer
In my opinion, it would be highly unusual for a famous quotation to be copyrighted from such a remote date, or if it were, for the copyright owner to bring an enforcement action for such a use. I agree with the previous advice.
