I was involved in an altercation in which a drunk individual came up to me acting belligerent and swinging a beer bottle to my face. I reacted and punched him in self defense. We tussled for a bit till the situation calmed down. I left the scene and the police were apparently called. The other party went to the hospital because of "a dislocated jaw". My girlfriend who was there that night received a phone call from a detective asking questions about that night, He told her that no charges were being pressed but that it was a serious felony matter and he wants to have a meeting with her. My contact information was given to him. What should my next step be? I am a Criminal Justice major about to graduate in December I can not have this on my record even though it was self defense.
