Question

My husband is a schizophrenic. His previous employer did not know that he was. Now they are going around town claiming he is a serial killer and psychotic. They knew he was on respiridone a common mental illness drug. Should we contact an attorney about defamation?

Answer

I would have to answer several questions before filing suit on this kind of thing:

1. Who is they?

2. Do they have any money to satisfy a judgment?

3. Who did they say this too?

4. Will those to whom they said this testify in a lawsuit?

5. What damage has your husband suffered financially or professionally.

6. What proof do you have that they said this to anyone?

7. Is he Psychotic? Has he ever been? Truth is a defense to defamation.
