Question

my VP stated via email in December 2013 that I would be getting a 5k bonus. she was let go in March 2014 before I was paid the bonus. the new heads say that this was a lie and she shouldn't have promised me that as it wasn't her place. I even had a picture of the text sent by the CEO to her confirming this. but since she spelled his contact name wrong they said it wasn't from him. First off, does that argument carry weight and second, taking the picture of the text out, since she was a representative of the company and it is in writing shouldn't I be entitled to that bonus?

Answer

An attorney would need more details to determine if the VP's promise of a bonus binds the company, such as whether the VP had authorized bonuses in the past and whether the promise was made pursuant to a company bonus program. I'd be happy to speak with you, please call or email me.

Answer

Can you show that she sent it? Please feel free to call me to discuss as I think you could have a claim for the $5,000 and, possibly, for three times that amount. Please contact me at [email protected]/* */
