i have sole physical costody, his father filed motion to modify, the hearing is scheduled to be heard by another judge in same county,can this be done?

There are many reasons why a Motion to Modify might be heard by a different judge than the one that presided over the divorce case. It is common. Unless the other side has done something unethical, you and your attorney should prepare to have the Motion heard by this other Judge.
