Question

How can i be charged with perjury for stating i was drivinga vehicle in court.on feb 13 2014 and now as of may 21 2014 they have chrged me with perjury saying that i lied. and giving a false statement to an officer. of which i did not and there is no proof that i wasnt driving or that my fiance wasnt driving they do not have any idea who was driving that day. my fiances lawyer told me to state that i was driving and thats what i did the judge dismissed me that day and said i was free to leave...now 3months later they have charged me with perjury based on assumption...i can not afford an attorney because they are assuming i lied. and did so based on his attorneys advice

Answer

Anyone might be charged with a crime, regardless of whether he or she has in fact broke the law. An experienced criminal defense attorney can help you evaluate the prosecution's case, any defenses that you might have, and any plea offer that might be made, so that you can decide whether to go to trial. Consider seeking a confidential consultation.
