somebody gave my family his dog because of leaving the country. it's been a year and the person has since returned, he is now threatening to take the dog back because we did not let him visit dog. we have medical documents he has the original bill of sale, can he legally take him from us?

Did he ever say when he gave you the dog that he xpected it back. If not what part of gift diesn;t he understand?
