Question

I gave my dad temporary guardianship because Im on paroll. He said it was just in case I make a mistake and go back to prison. This way he could have ability to provide my son with medical care or get help from the state. I spoke with his lawyer and asked if this was the type of condition where I would have to go to court to get guardianship back over my son, (in this case I wouldn't have signed the temporary guardianship over to my dad). She assured me that I still have full legal rights over my son and that the condition would just allow my dad to make decisions for my son in case I weren't there. Is this true or were they feeding me with bs? Im worried that I wont be able to move out of my dads house with my son without my dad holding the temporary guardianship over my head. Supposibly I still have full legal rights so my dad couldn't keep my son from me right? (By the way im in the state of FL)

Answer

Impossible to answer without reviewing the documents. Get your own attorney and have them reviewed; never expect a third party's attorney to represent your interest. Dad's attorney has a duty to Dad, not you.
