my lease has expired but I still live in the apartment, so since it is now a month to month how much notice do I have to give before I move out

Connecticut law does not specify how much notice a tenant must give a landlord on a month-to-month lease. You should check your rental agreement which might stipulate that you must give notice on the first of the month, for example.
