I was a resident for 8 years , but came back to mexico because i got a divorce. my question is if i still can keep my residence or get my citisenship even though i left this country and only keep going back and forth ?.is there anyway i could make up to arrange this situation ?

If each trip outside the U.S. was less than six months, you should be fine. If more than six months, you should have gotten a re-entry permit first. If you are outside the U.S. now, and have been gone more than six months, then Customs & Border Protection could deny your entry into the U.S.
You cannot file for citizenship unless you have lived in the U.S. for 2 1/2 out of the past 5 years, & have lived in the State where the application is filed for the three months preceding it. Furthermore, you cannot leave the U.S. once you file.
