Question

My father, who lives in Iowa, wants to quit claim deed oil mineral rights to some property in Texas to my brothers and I. Does the deed form need to comply with Texas or Iowa requirements, or both? Where can I get the form(s)? Thank you

Answer

A Deed on Texas property would need to comport and comply with Texas law, to support a Summary Judgment Motion against someone suing to undo the transfer.. But, it wouldn't hurt to address Iowa probate law, as well as Federal Tax regulations, in executing such a transfer. Basically, any attorney licensed in Texas should be able to draw the requested documents.

Good luck
