Question

A Casey's gas station is getting ready to build behind my home. Currently there is a warehouse and there is a chain link fence between my property and the commercial building.

I spoke to the contractors who are getting ready to tear down the warehouse and they told me they are removing the chain link fence and that Casey's does not plan on putting up a fence between them and us. This means that anyone can walk into my back yard at any time.

Is the a law that states that there must be a fence between commercial and private property?

I live in Madison county illinois

Answer

You should talk to the local zoning and building departments. There may be a local ordinance requiring some kind of screening. And I assume you agree it is their fence; otherwise they tore down your fence? Otherwise these are usually local ordinance issues.
