Question

My apartment lease

Is up in the 10th of February n because I never put a 30 day notice the appartment management is making me stay past the end of lease at a month to month rate. Which jumps my rent up an extra $600 for that month. They said its because I intiatialed a "hold over" clause that states I needed to give a a notice 30 days prior to end of lease, if I don't the lease continues till I give notice at month to month rate. Can they do that?

Answer

Yes, if you lease states that it renews on a month to month basis. Review your lease to be sure.

Answer

Not only can they, it is very common. You need to read your leases carefully.
