I'm 17 and I will be turning 18 in 7 months I really like this one guy who is 25 and he likes me too, but he refuses to even go out with me because he thinks it is illegal.

I live in California and I will be thankful if you help me out.

The two of you can legally date, but you can't legally have any sort of sexual contact.

Remember that, even if you don't do anything sexual, other people might believe that you are. That could make your male friend look like a child molester even if he isn't. He might or might not get into legal trouble. The appearance of illegality matters, so he has reason to be concerned.

Dating is fine as long as he isn't doing anything to potentially get you in legal trouble. No curfew violations, no sneaking into 18+ clubs, no alcohol or drugs.
